Leo V. Messer, 90, died at 2:05 p.m., Sunday, Jan 24, 1993, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.
He was born Aug. 25, 1902, at Rome, son of Zion and Esta Piper Messer. On August 18, 1923, he married Vera Fitch, who preceded him in death Jan. 28, 1980.
He was a retired farmer, worked for 23 years on the C.B.&Q. Railroad, and for 20 years at Mt. Pleasant City light Plant.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, Daisy Myers, and Dica Sammons, and four brothers, Sephus, Orville, Fred and Chris.
He is survived by nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1993, at 1:30 p.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant. Rev. Glen Richard will officiate. Interment will be in White Oak Cemetery.
Open visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Beatty Funeral Home.
