Mrs. Sephus Messer

Mrs. Sephus Messer, age 71, died at Memorial Hospital Tuesday at 6:55 p.m. after an extended illness. Alma Florence, the daughter of John and Martha Burgess Sammons, was born August 7, 1898 in Henry county where she lived all of her life. On December 20, 1916 she was married to Josephus Messer, who survives her.

She is also survived by three daughters and one son, Mrs. E. J. (Wilma) Bowers, Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Blanche Byers, Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Raymond (Betty) Bouge, Indianola and Robert Messer, Rt. 3, Mt. Pleasant; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 sister and 2 brothers, Ralph and Harry Sammons, both of Rome, and Mrs. Mamie Ferrell and Mrs. Bonnie Swailes both of Keosauqua.

The body is at Crane-Ewart-Young Funeral Home. The time and place is pending the arrival of a grandson from Vietnam. The news will carry details of the funeral later.

Funeral Notice

Funeral services for Mrs. Sephus Messer who died at Memorial Hospital Tuesday, at 6:55 p.m. after an extended illness will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant. Rev. Dennis Nicholson, Associate Pastor will officiate. Interment will be in White Oak Cemetery. Friends may call at the Crane-Ewart-Young Funeral Home as they desire.
