John S. Messer, 37, formerly of Fairfield, died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 1990, at his home in Marshalltown.
The services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield with the Rev. Charles Kaufmann officiating. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery near Rome, Iowa. Family visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Kidney foundation of Iowa.
Messer was born Nov. 2, 1952 in Jefferson County, the son of Noel and Anna Black Messer. He worked for Mid Iowa Workshops Inc. in Marshalltown for the last six years. He lived most of his life in Fairfield.
Surviving are his mother of Fairfield, four brothers, Lavern of West Grove, MO., David and Larry both of Marshalltown, James of Fairfield three sisters, Mary Dosher of Mount Pleasant, Bonnie Haynes and Carol Lewis, both of Fairfield. His father and a brother Carl preceded him in death.
