MRS. C. MESSER RITES MONDAY

Funeral service for Mrs. Cornelia V. Messer was held at the Cookes Funeral Home Monday, June 12, with Morris Morgan Officiating. Prof. Frank Keedy played the organ and Mrs. Will McClaran and Mrs. G. B. Ferrell sang. Burial was at White Oak Cemetery with the following as casket bearers: Paul, Wayne, Howard, and Sheridan Messer, Orlan Tallman, and Raymond Nelson.

Cornelia V. Messer was born in Illinois on September 15, 1856 and passed away at 1:00 on June 10, 1950 at the age of 93 years, 8 months, and 25 days. In her early life she came to Iowa and settled on a farm four miles north of Rome, Iowa in the White Oaks Community. She was the daughter of Ross and Anna Hollewill. On October 14, 1875, she married John Messer and to this union were born six children. Catherine Myers of Rome, Garfield Messer of Lockridge, and Wilbert Messer at home who cared for his aged mother, still survive. Her husband, two sons, one daughter and two grandsons have preceded her in death. She also leaves 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
