John A. Messer

John A. Messer was born in Henry county, Iowa, August 10, 1845, and died on his farm southwest of Rome on February 25, 1916. All of is boyhood days were spent in this county. On October 15, 1875, he married Cornelia V. Hallowell. They were the parents of six children, Calvin, Liddy Ann, who died in her sixteenth year; Garfield, William Henry, Wilbert and Katie (Mrs. Fred Myers). Besides his children he leaves to mourn him, his wife and seven grandchildren. He was buried in White Oak cemetery.
