Florence "Flossie" Marie Messer, 71, of 2830 Winegard Drive, No. 516, Burlington, died at 3:47 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, 1996, at Burlington Medical Center.
Born June 19, 1925, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Edward and Mae Blythe Johnson. She married Gilbert Grant Messer on Aug. 13, 1944, in Mount Pleasant
Mrs. Messer was a 1944 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. She was a secretary and bookkeeper at Pohren Electric for more than 20 years.
She was a member of Burlington First Church of the Nazarene and Burlington Professional Women.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, the Rev. Donald Lee Messer of Johannesburg, South Africa, and Dennis Ray Messer of Burlington; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Alice Whaley of Mount Pleasant and Doris Telford of Burlington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, four sisters, two brothers and one granddaughter.
Friends may call afternoon Friday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The graveside service for Mrs. Messer will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Oakland Mills Cemetery southwest of Mount Pleasant with the Rev. Donald Lee Messer and John Richards officiating.
A memorial has been established for Oakland Mills Cemetery Association.
