Fred Messer

To the sorrow of his loved ones and to his many friends, but to his own great relief, and happiness in Christ, Fred Messer, son of Zion and Esta Messer, fell asleep in Jesus at his home near Rome, Iowa, Sunday morning about 4:30 o'clock. He had been suffering from pneumonia following the influenza.

Fred Messer was born in Henry Co., March 15, 1893. He was one of a family of nine children. Two sisters died while very small. Those remaining with the parents and wife to mourn are Christpher, Leo and Daisy at home, Orville in the service a Dover, New Jersey; Joseph living near Rome, Iowa and Mrs. Ed Sammons of Rome, Iowa.

He leaves a grandmother and grandfather beside other near relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the home Friday by Frank E. Weston who was a personal friend of the deceased.

After services at the house he was taken to White Oak cemetery for burial. The pall bearers were cousins, Clem Flanders, Sheridan Messer, Jr., Hanect, Elsworth Fields, Roy Scarff and Arthur White.

Fred Messer was a fine young man who had many friends. He was a good son and a loving husband. His relatives and friends do not mourn as those that have no hope.

He was happily converted a few days before his death.

Dear loved ones and friends weep not for me,
The time will not be long
If you are from your sins set free
You too, will join the throng.
