Raymond C. Ingwersen, 79, of Birmingham, formerly of Mount Pleasant, died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 1997, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.
Born Dec. 23, 1917, at Trenton, he was the son of John and Mary Brownell Ingwersen. He married Pauline Messer in 1936. She died Nov. 28, 1978. He later married Ann Styvaret March 7, 1979.
He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene of Fairfield. He was an iron worker for Steel Workers Association Local 577 in Burlington for seven years.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Deloris Wood of Malvern, Ark., and Janet Miller and Martha Garretson, both of Mount Pleasant; four sons, Darrell, Jerry and Randy, all of Mount Pleasant, and Roy of Keosauqua; one brother, Carl Ingwersen of Swedesburg; one sister, Frances Campbell of Mount Pleasant; 22 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and two sons.
Friends may call at their convenience from noon to 8 p.m. today at Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. There will be no family visitation.
The funeral for Mr. Ingwersen will be 10 a.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Jeffrey Crawford officiating. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery, north of Rome.
A memorial has been established.
