Monday, 1 June 1964Wayne Caldwell Of Rome Dies
Wayne Edward Caldwell, 69, of rome4, died at his home Saturday evening, after a lengthy illness.
He was born September 28, 1894 in Henry county, the son of Thomas and Emma Jane Messer Christner.
On April 16, 1931 he was married to Ethel Gholson in Mt. Pleasant. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, Dr. Kenneth Caldwell of Montezuma; two grandchildren, Mary Jane and Kenneth Wayne II; one sister, Mrs. Noel (Gertrude) McGuire of Lockridge.
He was predeceased by his parents, one infant daughter and one brother.
Mr. Caldwell was a retired farmer and also worked for the R.E.A. for seven years. He attended the Rome Baptist Church, and was a member of the American Legion and a veteran of World War I.
Funeral services will be held at 25 p.m. Tuesday at the Rome Baptist Church with Rev. C. H. Peters officiating.
Interment will be in White Oak Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the Mt. Pleasant V.F.W.
A memorial fund has been established to the Rome Baptist Church for those who wish to contribute.
