Mrs. Ethel Caldwell

Mrs. Wayne (Ethel) Caldwell, 68, Rome, died at University Hospitals, Iowa City, Sunday, Oct. 12, 1975.

She was born was born Feb. 9, 1907, in Henry County the daughter of Charles Wesley and Mary Etta Shumaker Gholson.

On April 16, 1931, at Mt. Pleasant, she was married to Wayne E. Caldwell, who died May 30, 1964.

She was a member of the Rome Baptist Church and a former member of the Trenton Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are a son, Dr. Kenneth Caldwell of Montezuma, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a sister, Mrs. Harold (Esther) Wells of Winfield, three brothers, Roy Gholson of Weed, Calif., Everett and Ralph Gholson, both of Merrimac.

In addition to her husband, an infant daughter, a brother, a sister and her parents preceded her in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Weir-Cookes Funeral Home. The Rev. Wayne Williams will officiate with interment at White Oak Cemetery.

According to the wishes of the family the casket will remain closed. Friends may call as they desire at Weir-Cookes Funeral Home to sign the register.

A memorial has been established in Mrs. Caldwell's memory for leukemia research.
