Lester Lampe

Lester (Butch) Lampe, 69, Mt. Pleasant, died Wednesday, April 18, 1990, at 3:05 a.m. at the Mapleleaf Healthcare Center.

He was born Nov. 8, 1920, at Mt. Pleasant, the son of Laurence and Edith Scarff Lampe.

On April 28, 1946, he married Glenna Jean White.

He was an inspector at I.A.A.P., Burlington for 27 years. He served in the navy during WWII and was V.F.W. and American Legion.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Richie (Cheryl) Roberts, Boulder, Colo., the Rev. Carmen Lampe, Mt. Ayr, and Mrs. Robert (Teresa) Hill, Burlington; two sons. Ted Lampe, Phoenix, Ariz., and Thomas Lampe, Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren; one brother, Larry Lampe, Des Moines; and two sisters, Mrs. Morris (Eleanor) Fitch, and Mrs Frances Cain, both of Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 21, at 1:30 p.m. at the Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home with the Rev. Carmen Lampe and the Rev. Roma Stewart officiating. After the service the body will be cremated.

The family will receive friends at the Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. Saturday to the time of the services.

A memorial has been established to the Mt. Pleasant Public Library.

Note: His ashes were scattered at sea about 190 mi. off Oahu, HI
