Edward Tulk Is Found Dead

Edward Tulk, farm resident northwest of Mt. Pleasant was found dead in bed at 9:40 this morning at his home by Russell Ross and Leslie Scarff, who had gone to the farm.

Ross, who recently bought the farm had been doing some repair work there Thursday afternoon and visited with Mr. Tulk about 4:30. When Ross went back to the farm Friday morning, he could get no response at the house and later entrance was made through a window.

Death evidently was from a heart attack and Coroner Hugh Dallner said that no inquest is planned.

Mrs. Tulk died two years ago on January 17, 1952.

Surviving are a son, Marvin, of Long Grove, and two daughters, Florence Schuman of near Independence, and Edna of California.

The body was taken to the Crane Funeral Home.

Services Held For Edward Tulk

Services for Edward Tulk were held at the Crane Funeral home Monday, January 18, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Phillip Bohi pastor of the Grace Methodist Temple, Kansas City, Mo. officiated.

Mrs. Max Stein played the organ, Mrs. Harvey Condon was the soloist.

The pallbearers were: Leslie Scarff, Dale Christner, John Lane, Raymond Graber, Guy Messer, and Verdon Hall. Interment at Richwood cemetery.

Edward Tulk, son of Abraham and Ellen Tulk, was born June 13, 1876 near Merrimac, Iowa, and departed this life January 15, 1954. He grew to young manhood in the Richwoods vicinity and attended Howe's Academy.

On March 13th, 1901 he and Lillian Mae Haines were united in marriage at Randolph, Nebraska. To their union was born three children, Edna Loreille of Lancaster, Calif., Florence Schuman of Winthrop, and Marvin Tulk of Long Grove. His wife preceeded him in death January 15th, 1952, after almost 51 years of marriage. He was also preceeded in death by his parents, a twin brother, Charles, and an infant sister. He is survived by one brother, William McCoy, of Farmington, two sisters, Mae Jones of Ottumwa, and Ella Hummel of Mt. Pleasant; seven grand children and four great grand children.

He spent his entire life in the Richwoods vicinity with the exception of five years spent near Quasqueton, Iowa.
