Warren Lane

Mr. Warren E. Lane, 77, of 1679 195th Lane, Mt. Pleasant, died of a heart attack at his home early Friday morning, Dec. 8, 1995.

Born July 8, 1918, near the White Oak community of Henry County, he was the son of John Q. and Iva Bates Lane. On Aug. 7, 1946, he married Mary E, McDowell, who survives.

A 1937 graduate of Mt. Pleasant Community High School, he farmed northwest of Mt. Pleasant all his life. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Tech. Sgt. in the Philippines and South Pacific Theater of Operations in the 67th Fighter Squadron.

He was of Protestant faith, a member of the American Legion Bob Tribby Post 58 of Mt. Pleasant, and actively supported the Henry County Animal Rescue League.

Survivors include his wife of Parkview Care Center at Wayland; one son, William B. "Bill" Lane of Danville; two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Virginia) Sommerfeld and Mrs. Wayne (Phyllis) Klopfenstein, both of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Russell O. and John L; and one nephew.

Visitation began at noon on Monday at the Weir Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday evening.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the Weir Funeral Home, with the Rev. Donald Coffin officiating. Interment with full military honors will be held in the Richwoods Cemetery northwest of Mt. Pleasant.

Memorials have been established to Richwood Cemetery or the Henry County Animal Rescue League.
