Mrs. John Lane

Mrs. John (Iva) Lane, 96, 900 N. Broadway, Mt. Pleasant, died at 6:15 a.m. Monday, Jan, 7, 1991, at her home.

She was born Aug. 29, 1894, near Trenton, in Henry County, the daughter of John E. and Lulu Mitts Bates. On July 12, 1917, in Trenton, John Q. Lane, who precedes her in death.

A retired homemaker, she taught in the county schools in her early years. She was a member of Finley Chapel of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Warren E., and two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Virginia) Sommerfield and Mrs. Wayne (Phyllis) Klopfenstein, all of Mt. Pleasant; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lilly and Freda Scarff, both of Mt. Pleasant.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; and two sons, Russell Q. and John L. Lane.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan 9, at the Weir Funeral Home, with the Rev. Donald Coffin officiating. Interment will be in Richwoods Cemetery south of Trenton.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Weir's where a memorial has been established to the Finley Chapel at Richwoods Cemetery.
