John Lane

John Lane, 94, 900 Broadway, Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, Jan 1, 1987, at his home.

He was born Aug. 23, 1892, in Henry County, the son of Oliver and Martha Haines Lane. On July 12, 1917, at Trenton, he married Iva Bates.

Mr. Lane was a retired farmer in the Trenton and Finley communities. He was a member of the Finley United Methodist Chapel.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Warren E., Mt. Pleasant; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Phyllis) Klopfenstein and Mrs. Paul (Virginia) Sommerfeld, both of Mt. Pleasant; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Roberta Granaas, Burbank, Calif.

His parents, two sons Russell Q. and John Lewis, five brothers, Arthur, Carl, Frank, George and Oliver, and four sisters, Ada McClure, Elsie Egli, Esther and Martha Lane preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be Sunday, Jan. 4, at 2 p.m. at the Beatty-Wilkins Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald coffin will officiate with interment in Richwood Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established for the Richwood Cemetery or the Finley Chapel.
