February 28, 1929 - January 28, 2006

Dennis D. Combs, 76, of Burlington, died at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at his son's home in Burlington.

The graveside funeral and burial for Mr. Combs will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31, in Richwoods Cemetery in rural Trenton, with the Rev. Randall Gearhart officiating.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Lunning Chapel. A memorial has been established.

Mr. Combs was born Feb. 28, 1929, in New London, the son of Earl and Ina Morrow Combs. On Aug. 2, 1947, he married Martha J, Hoover in Mt. Pleasant. She died Oct. 6, 1988.

Mr. Combs worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant and retired in 1983.

He enjoyed playing the violin, fishing, playing bingo, and going to the boat and playing cards.

Survivors include his three sons, Ted Combs, Danny Combs and David Combs, all of Burlington; two daughters, Peggy Rice and Julie Anderson, both of Burlington; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son and one brother.
