Alice Scott

Mrs. Leo (Alice) Scott, 91, Pleasant Manor Care Center, Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 1986, at the care center.

A lifetime resident of Henry County, she was born March 24, 1895, the daughter of Dominic and Kate Sexton Burns. On February 2, 1916, at Mt. Pleasant, she married Leo F. Scott, who died Nov. 7, 1938.

Mrs. Scott had worked for the Kennedy Dairy for 25 years and had farmed in Henry County. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Church, Mt. Pleasant, the Altar and Rosary Society, V.F.W. Auxiliary and was a charter member of the South Center Club.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Winifred) Hunting and Mrs. Max (Jean) Beavers, both of Mt. Pleasant; Miss Anna Lee Scott, Cedar Rapids; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Her parents; two brothers, Francis and Mark, two twin infant daughters, Martha L. and Alice L.; one daughter, Ruth Fern, one granddaughter, one great granddaughter, four brothers, Vincent, Damien, Joseph and Thomas, one infant sister, Anna, also preceded her in death.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at St. Alphonsus church with Father Thomas Speigel and Father Paul Albers officiating. Interment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.

Scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Weir funeral Home where the family will receive friends following the service. Memorials have been established to her church or the Mt. Pleasant Public Library.
