Arlene Bruggemeyer

Avarial Arlene Bruggemeyer, 84, of Mount Pleasant died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

Born April 4, 1927, in Hillsboro, she was the daughter of Loyal Vern and Rowena Eleanor Gray Mefferd. On Oct. 20, 1943, she married Charles William Bruggemeyer in Kahoka, Mo. He died in 2001.

Mrs. Bruggemeyer farmed with her husband on the family farm, was the bookkeeper for Bruggemeyer Construction, and for many years, she and her husband were dealers and distributors for Huntsman Campers, a line of mini motor homes and campers.

She lived in Wyoming, Milwaukee and Champaign, Ill., as a child.

She was a former parishioner of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and previously belonged to St. Alphonsus Altar & Rosary Society and the South Center Club.

She enjoyed quilting.

Survivors include one son, Dan Bruggemeyer of Mount Pleasant; two daughters, Jenny Glover of Salem and Janet Bruggemeyer of Mount Pleasant; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one infant son, one grandchild, her parents, one sister and two brothers.

No visitation is planned. The body has been cremated.

The graveside memorial service for Mrs. Bruggemeyer will be at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Michael Hess officiating.

Memorials have been established for Henry County Health Center and the Andrea Sartain Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant is in charge of arrangements.
