Charles Bruggemeyer

Charles W. Bruggemeyer, 77, of Mount Pleasant, died at 10:02 p.m.Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Born June 18, 1923, in Lincoln, Ill., he was the son of William T. and Jennie F. McWilliams Bruggemeyer. He married A. Arlene Mefferd on Oct. 20, 1943, in Kahoka, Mo.

Mr. Bruggemeyer was a 1942 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. He farmed southeast of Mount Pleasant all his life and owned and operated Bruggemeyer Construction Co. from 1958 to the present.

He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Charles D. "Dan" Bruggemeyer of rural Mount Pleasant; two daughters, Jenny Glover of Salem and M. Janet Bruggemeyer of rural Mount Pleasant; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Jane Leydens of Mount Pleasant.

He was preceded in death by one son and one brother.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Weir Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral Mass for Mr. Bruggemeyer will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant with the Rev. Nick Adam officiating. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Crossroads Hospice of Southeast Iowa
