Jane Baity

Jane Baity, 75, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Salem, died at 8:28 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 1995, at the Maple Leaf Health Care Center.

Born Oct. 22, 1919 at Mason, S.D., she was the daughter of William and Agnes Wight Holaday. She married Chester M. Baity on March 11, 1944 at Salem. He died Feb. 21, 1980.

She was a graduate of the class of 1937 of Hillsboro High School, attended Iowa State Teachers College and Iowa Wesleyan College. She was a school teacher and worked at Vega. She was a member of the Salem Bridge Club and the Salem Congregational Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Janis White and Jackie Ackles of Mount Pleasant; one son, Jerry Baity of West Burlington; two granddaughters and two grandsons.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers.

Open visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. There will be no family visitation.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at the Salem Congregational Church with the Rev. Dave Legge officiating. Burial will be at Salem East Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Salem Congregational Church or the Mount Pleasant Public Library.
