MT. PLEASANT - Mr. Chester M. Baity, 57, 104 N. Harrison, Mt. Pleasant, died at home Thursday, Feb. 21 at 12:45 a.m. of an apparent heart attack.
He was born Dec. 2, 1923, at Girard, Ill., the son of Floyd and Flossie Marshall Baity. On March 11, 1944, he married Jane Holaday at Salem.
He was a member of the Salem Congregational church and the Salem Masonic lodge. He farmed in the Salem community until 1974, when he moved to Mt. Pleasant, where he was employed by Kerr Manufacturing Co.
Surviving: his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Janis) White, and Mrs. Harold (Jackie) Ackles, both of Mt. Pleasant; son, Jerry, Burlington; brother Floyd Jr., Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Mrs. Wayne (Audrey) Bower, Stockport; and Mrs. Robert (Erlene) Lee, Mediapolis, and two grandchildren.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Sunday, Salem Congregational church, Revs. William Strickland and Lewis Savage; Salem East cemetery. A memorial has been established at the Beatty funeral home in Mt. Pleasant.
