FUNERAL OF PRIVATE ECKSTROM

----------
Short Services Held Here and at Swedesburg. Interment at Latter Place.

----------

The body of Private Ed Eckstrom arrived in Mt. Pleasant from Camp Lee, Va., Wednesday afternoon on No. 9. It was accompanied from Camp Lee by Sargeant Homer C. Lyman as military escort. The body was taken to the Crane Undertaking establishment where this afternoon at 1 o'clock brief services were held, conducted by the Rev. F. E. Weston, pastor of the First Baptist Church, and later at 2 o'clock at Swedesburg, open air services were held in the Swedesburg cemetery conducted by Rev. Weston and assisted by the pastor of the Swedish Lutheran church of that place.

Private Eckstrom, it is understood, has no relatives in this country, but for several years has made his home at Swedesburg with the family of Mangus Nelson. January third last he was united in marriage with Miss Etta Caulk of this city. He went with the July contingent to Camp Pike and was thence transferred to the Veterinary school at Camp Lee, Va. He enjoyed the best health until two weeks ago when he was seized with the prevailing influenza which developed into pneumonia and from which he passed away. He was twenty-six years of age and a young man very highly thought of by all who knew him. The young soldier has many friends over the county who will mourn his early death and will sympathize with the young wife in her grief.
