Ryan Scarff

Ryan P. Scarff, 37, of rural Mount Pleasant, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at his home.

Born Oct. 16, 1972, in Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Ron and Wendy Slagel Scarff.

Mr. Scarff for the past two years for Freyenberger Construction and worked 13 years prior at English River Pellets in Kalona. He graduated from WACO High School and attended Southeastern College in Ottumwa. He was a member of Sugar Creek Mennonite Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles and his dog.

Survivors include two daughters, Mekenzie Bean-Scarff of Ainsworth and Quinn Molander-Scarff of Wayland; his parents of Wayland; one brother, Chad Scarff of Kalona; one sister, Sara Scarff of Austin, Texas; his paternal grandmother, Ann Scarff of Mount Pleasant; one niece; and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and paternal grandfather.

The funeral for Mr. Scarff will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Sugar Creek Mennonite Church in Wayland with Nathan Lutjens officiating. Burial will be in Sugar Creek Mennonite Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Mr. Scarff's daughters.

Beatty Funeral Home in Washington is in charge of arrangements.
