W.O. "Dutch" Myers

W.O. "Dutch" Myers, 88, 2135 310th St., New London, died at 1:12 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 1993, at the Henry County Health Center.

He was born Dec. 5, 1904, in Jackson Township, the son of Edgar A. and M. Belle Sensbaugh Myers. On Oct. 1, 1927, at Mt. Pleasant, he married Daisy B. Messer, who preceded him in death in November 1987.

He farmed southeast of Mt. Pleasant in Jackson Township all of his life and was in partnership with Ted Detrich in drilling wells in and near Henry County. He drove a school bus for the Mt. Pleasant schools for 10 years.

He had been a former member of the Pleasant Hills Church and served on the Pleasant Hill Cemetery board for 45 years. He was a past member of the Odd Fellows lodge of New London.

He is survived by one son, Elvin E. of rural New London; two daughters, Lila Logan of Mt. Pleasant and Norma Rourke of Arvada, Colo.; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Teresa Jergenson of Los Alamitos, Calif., and Edna Dorrance of Raytown, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; four brothers, Walter, Ralph and two infants; and six sisters, Mabel Scarff, Edith Messenger, Margaret Yardley, Ruth Noel, Elenore Torgenson and Grace Seifken.

Visitation will begin at noon Saturday, July 31, at the Weir Funeral Home Mt. Pleasant where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 Saturday evening.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Aug. 1, at the First Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant, at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Leon Seager and Rev. Dr. Virgil Fry will officiate. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the Pleasant Hill and White Oak Cemeteries.
