Jacob R. Haines, 22, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Saturday, November 28, 2009, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident near Wyman, IA.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2009, beginning after 12 noon, at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, December 3, 2009, at the Faith Christian Outreach Church, with Pastor Monte Knudsen officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts of love and friendship may be directed to the family for a memorial to be designated at a later time.

Born September 17, 1987, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, Jacob Ryan was the son of Jeff and Susan Stebbins Haines. Jacob grew up in Winfield, IA, and was a 2005 graduate of Winfield High School. He moved with his family to Mt. Pleasant in 2003. Jacob graduated from Universal Technical Institute in Glendale Heights, IL, as a Ford Certified Technician. Since that time, he has worked for Shottenkirk in Burlington, IA.

From a very young age, Jacob had a love of cars and knew a lot about them. He was especially fond of Ford Mustangs. He played on the high school football and golf teams. Jacob was an avid Cincinnati Bengals and Chicago White Sox fan. He enjoyed playing video games and spending time with his friends.

Along with his parents, Jeff and Susan Haines of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Jacob is survived by a sister, Leah (Randy) McElhinney of Morning Sun, IA; a brother, David (Jennifer) Haines of Winfield, IA; paternal grandparents, Don and Bev Haines of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and maternal grandparents, Jim and Carolyn Stebbins of Burlington, IA. Jacob is also survived by nieces and nephews, Dakota, Seth, and Blake Haines and Gage and Sydney McElhinney, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jacob was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Lois I. Stebbins and Beverly C. Haines.
