Mrs. Nellie Farr

Mrs. Nellie Farr, 83, Salem, died Monday, Oct. 23, at 10:30 a.m. at Henry County Health Center.

She was born Dec. 21, 1894, at Lockridge, the daughter of Christian and Carrie Haines Graff. On Dec. 18, 1915, at Mt. Pleasant, she married Frank Farr who died in 1973.

Mrs. Farr was a former resident of Mt. Pleasant, a member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church and south Center Club.

Surviving are four sons, Roger of Napa, Cliff, Malcolm of Salem, Ray of Burlington and George of Salem, one brother; Dillon Graff, Mt. Pleasant; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Her husband, parents and two sisters, Mrs. Edith Rukgaber and Mrs. Minnie Cornick, preceded her in death.

A short service will be held Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant, with Rev. Robert Mateus, pastor of St. Michael's Church. officiating. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home, Salem. The Rev. Robert Dameron, pastor of the Oakland Mills Church, will officiate with interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Beatty Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant. The body will be taken to the Salem Funeral Home Wednesday at 9 p.m. to lie in state.

A memorial has been established for the Oakland Mills Church.
