Minnie Peterson

Born Nov. 15, 1917, in Wayland, she was the daughter of David and Naomi Kinney Rich. On March 19, 1949, she married Loren E. "Pete" Peterson in Washington. He died March 17, 2000.

Mrs. Peterson was a homemaker.

She attended Douglas School southwest of Wayland. She was well known for her cooking. She attended numerous Bible studies and was a member of Wayland Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Rick Peterson of Shell Lake, Wis.; five daughters, Cheryl Hembry of Emerson, Linda Metcalf of Oakville, Jan Heinz of Burlington and Gail Denning and Carol Stevenson, both of Des Moines; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, four brothers and six sisters.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Peterson will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Olson-Powell Chapel, with the Rev. Jeff Crawford officiating. Burial will be in North Hill Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for Hospice of Central Iowa and the Alzheimer's Foundation.
