Anna Farmer

Anna E. Farmer, 92, of Wayland, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 1996, at the Parkview Home in Wayland.

Born May 22, 1904, in Henry County, she was the daughter of Arthur and Estella Oswalt Messer. She married Frank Farmer on Sept. 3, 1924, in Mount Pleasant. He died March 30, 1969.

Mrs. Farmer attended Wayland United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crafting and sewing.

As a child, she lived with her grandparents, Isaac and Martha Oswalt. She made her home in later years with her husband and daughter for 28 years before moving to the Parkview Home.

Survivors include four daughters, Jean Clark, Evelyn Morrow and Delores McGuire, all of Wayland, and Betty Jennings of Mount Pleasant; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marjorie Morrow of Ottumwa.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, one great-great-grandchild and one sister.

Friends may call after noon today at Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Farmer will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Wayland United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Steve Good officiating. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery, west of Wayland.

A memorial has been established for Cottonwood Cemetery.
