Fred Lewis Lyon

Fred Lewis Lyon, 62, of Wayland, died at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1992, at his home.

Born June 30, 1930, at Mount Pleasant, he was the son of Peter and Chleo Messer Lyon. He married Margarette Daines on Feb. 8, 1950, at Mount Pleasant.

He was the owner of the former Miller and Lyon Contractors of Wayland. He also worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. He served in the Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; five children, Terry Lyon of Shalimar, Fla., Linda Fox of Brighton, Sherri Beauchamp of Mount Pleasant, Barbara Shelman of Olds and William Lyon of Wayland; four brothers, Joe Lyon, Henry Lyon and Paul Lyon, all of Mount Pleasant, and Glen Lyon of Uncasville, Conn.; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a granddaughter.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Thursday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at Beatty Funeral Home, Wayland.

The funeral for Mr. Lyon will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Beatty Funeral Home, Wayland, with the Rev. Don Coffin officiating. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery, west of Wayland.

A memorial has been established.
