NEW LONDON -- Harold Oren Brown, 77, died at his home in New London at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 9.

He was born Dec. 24, 1907, near Rome, to Claude and Rebecca Messer Brown. He served in the Navy in World War II. He married Alyce Perry Oct. 15, 1928 in Des Moines.

Mr. Brown retired as a metallurgist for the Howard Foundry in Chicago.

Surviving: The wife and five sisters: Harriett Allison, San Antonio, Texas, Ruth Witthoft, Davenport, Catherine Johnson, Fairfield, and Agnes Plants and Eulala Fraley, both of California.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at the Elliott Chapel, Mr. Lloyd Bensmiller, Burge Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
