Neva Calhoun

Mrs. E. C. (Neva) CALHOUN, 76, Rome, died Thursday noon, June 15, 1989, at her home.

She was born Aug. 6, 1912, at Coldwater, Kan., the daughter of Daniel H. and Mary E. CALHOUN SEPTER. Oct. 11, 1938, at Memphis, Mo., she married Ernest C. CALHOUN, who survives.

She worked 18 years at MHI in Mt. Pleasant and retired as postmistress at the Rome Post Office. She was a member of the Rome Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, of the Long Term Care Unit, Henry County Health Center; one son, F. L. "Pee Wee" CALHOUN, Greensburg, Kan.; four daughters, Mrs. Charles (Eloise) VAN ZILE, Rome, Mrs. Raymond (Edna) STOTT, Burlington, Mrs. Dennis (Georgia) SAMMONS, Rome, and Miss Nancy CALHOUN, Rome; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Elzine, Mt. Pleasant.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Darrell W.; one grandson, Russell STOTT; five brothers, Harley, Harvey, Clyde, Frank and Walter; and one sister, Nancy HOLSER.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 19, from the Rome Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lester Smith and the Rev. Grant Lapham officiating. Interment will be in the family plot in the Grant Cemetery, west of Rome. Visitation will begin at noon Sunday at the Weir Funeral Home, where the family will be receive friends, 7-8:30 p.m., Sunday.

A memorial Has been established to the Rome Baptist Church.
