Neoma Calhoun

Neoma CALHOUN, 70, of Mt. Pleasant and formerly of Lockridge, died at 10:46 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at the Henry County Health Center.

The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Jim Hughes officiating. Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. There will be no family visitation. Burial will be in the Cottonwood Cemetery in Wayland. Memorials may be made to the Cottonwood Cemetery or to Congregate Meals.

Mrs. CALHOUN was born March 22, 1930, in Bloomfield, the daughter of Andrew and Lena May McVEY HERBERT. On Jan. 18, 1947 she married Edman Wayne CALHOUN in Henry County.

A graduate of New London High School, she spent most of her life in Henry County. She was a homemaker and helped her husband with the farm work. She worked at IRC in Burlington and was employed at Goodyear for 15 years before retiring. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include four sons, Denny Wayne CALHOUN of O'Fallon, Mo., Ronald Dwight CALHOUN of Mt. Pleasant, Randall Wayne CALHOUN of Lockridge and Eddy Dean CALHOUN of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, Harold HERBERT of Forsythe, Mo. and Doran HEBERT of Downing, Mo.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four brothers and four sisters.
