Word was received here Wednesday afternoon by the Merton Wrights that Mrs. Wright's mother, Mrs. J. G. Burrows, 81, had passed away that afternoon at the St. Francis Hospital in Miami Beach, Fla. Mrs. Burrows, who had been ill for the past month had been dividing the time with her two daughters, Mrs. H. W. Thomas of Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Wright, spending a part of the year with each daughter and her family.
Mrs. Burrows' husband preceded her in death fifteen years ago. She is survived by nine grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Cookes Funeral Home with Rev. Owen Wilson officiating. Interment will be at Forest Home.

Page 1Train Delayed; Funeral Changed
The funeral service for Mrs. J. G. Burrows, which was scheduled for Saturday afternoon, has been changed due to a train accident in Florida. The arrival of the body here has been delayed until late Saturday afternoon because of the interruption in the train service. The funeral will be held on Sunday afternoon at three o'clock at the Cookes Funeral home.

Page 3Funeral Held For Mrs. J. G. Burrows
Funeral service for Mrs. J. G. Burrows, who passed away May 25, 1949, at Miami Beach, Florida, at the age of 81 years, 11 days, was held Sunday afternoon, May 29th, at 3 o'clock at the Cookes funeral home. Rev. Owen W. Wilson, pastor of the Presbyterian church officiated. Jo Ann Estes sang the "Old Rugged Cross" and Mrs. Ethel Winter played the organ.
Pallbearers were James Russell, Dick Hall, Verne Wright, Lynn Wright, Waldo Bloom and Carl Carlson. Mrs. Parke Cornick and Mrs. Frank Abraham were in charge of the flowers.
Mary E. Burrows was born May 14th, 1868, in York County, Pa., the daughter of Edmund E. and Lydia Stremmel Miller and came with her parents to Astoria, Ill., when a year old where she grew to young womanhood.
She was married to J. G. Burrows Aug. 10, 1886, and to this union five children were born.
In 1912 the family moved to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
Since the death of her husband 15 years ago, she had made her home with her two daughters. In recent years most of her time had been spent in Florida with her youngest daughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, a daughter, and three grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. H. W. Thomas, Miami Beach, Florida, and Mrs. Merton Wright of Mt. Pleasant, 9 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, one brother, William Miller, three sisters, Mrs. Dan Johnson, Mrs. Geo. Ruth and Mrs. Cyrus Bucher, all of Astoria, Ill.
