Dorothy C. Vickstrom

Dorothy C. Vickstrom, 87, of Burlington, died at 6:10 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2008, at Great River Medical Center.

Born July 3, 1920 in Bison South Dakota, she was the daughter of Charley and Crete Brewster Finn. On June 22, 1941, she married Karl F Vickstrom at St. John's Lutheran Church in Davenport. He preceded her in death on July 1, 2004.

Mrs. Vickstrom was a 1938 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. She worked 20 years for the Des Moines County Home Care, retiring in 1983.

Mrs. Vickstrom was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Exeisor Cirle of King's Daughters and Sons, Ladies Auxiliary of VFW, Royal Neighbors of America, Railroad Veterans N.A.R.V.E and Peacemakers Quilting Group of Messiah Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sons, Dale Vickstron and Dean Vickstrom both of Burlington; four grandchildren, Rev. Britt Vickstrom of Canton, Ohio, Dr. Craig Vickstrom of L'anse, Michigan, Trent Vickstrom of Burlington and Tyler Vickstrom of Hiawatha; three sisters, Aileen Koprucki of Bettendorf, Francis Messer of Keokuk, and Crete Miller of Ottumwa; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, a son, Curtis Vickstrom, parents and two sisters, Viola and Winifred prededed her in death.

Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 1st in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive freinds from 6:00 intil 8:00 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Vickstrom will be Saturday, February 2nd at 10:30 a.m. in Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Erick Swanson will officiate. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Februray 2nd in Forest Home Cemetery, Mount Pleasant. Memorials have been established for Messiah Luthern Church or Bethphage Misson of Axtel, Nebraska.

Dorothy was my aunt. Her husband Karl Vickstom was also from Mt. Pleasant.
