Carl Ossian Nelson passed away Thursday, February 27, 1975 at his home in Swedesburg.

The son of Nels Peter and Kristina Nelson, he was born March 16, 1889 at Kristdala, Sweden.

He came to the United States in 1909 and settled in the Swedesburg vicinity.

Wile serving in World War I, he was assigned to Company F 313 Ammunition Train. He served overseas and upon returning home farmed in the Swedesburg and Winfield vicinities until 1958 when he moved to Swedesburg.

He was married to Nora Palm on February 8, 1923 at Swedesburg. She preceded him in death on February 2, 1971.

He was a member of the Swedesburg Lutheran Church and of the American Legion Post No. 626 of Olds.

Survivors include one son, Russell of Bettendorf; one daughter, Mrs. Berniece King of Lakewood, California; two grand-children; three great grand-children; one sister, Mrs. Hilma Swenson of Mt. Pleasant and one brother, Axel Nelson of Swedesburg and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by one sister and three brothers in Sweden.

Rev. Delmar Carstens, pastor of the Swedesburg Lutheran Church, officiated at services at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 1975, at the Swedesburg Church. Organist was Mrs. Richard Nelson and soloist, Mr. William Tolander.

Casket bearers were Roger Hanze, Richard Smoot, Carl Ingwerson, Arnold Lindeen, Robert McCullough and Leonard Molander.

Interment in Swedesburg Cemetery, Swedesburg, Iowa. American Legion Post No. 626 provided a Military Honor Guard. Barton-McKasson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
