DIED.
SMITH - In this city on Saturday, April 4, at the residence of Mrs. Jane Allen, Mrs. Jane Smith, at the advanced age of 103 years.

The deceased came to this city with her son Abram Allen and family in March 1857. Her life has been a long and eventful one. She was born in Virginia, near Richmond during the war of the Revolution, her father serving as a soldier in that war. After the close of the war her father, Wm. Crisp, and his family moved to Tennessee, near Murfreesboro. Here about 1822 she married Abram Allen. In about two years Mr. Allen died. The deceased had but one child, a son, born a short time after the death of her first husband.

After remaining a widow four years, she married Robert Smith, and with him removed at an early day to Illinois, settling near Decatur, Macon county. Here her second husband died. After the death of her second husband, the deceased made her home with her son Abram Allen, and came with the family to Mt. Pleasant in 1857. Four years ago she had the misfortune to fall and break her hip. Since then she has been a cripple, unable to walk. Mrs. Smith in her youth united with the Baptist church, and faithfully adhered to the church of her choice during her long and eventful life. Her funeral was attended on Sunday afternoon, Rev. Murphy conducting the services. The exact date of the birth of the deceased is not known, the family record having been lost some time during the early removals of the family.
