MRS. SWEARINGEN.

Jane Helmick, daughter of Jeramiah and Rachel Helmick, was born in Pennsylvania, February 28, 1828 and died January 22, 1911.

She moved with her parents to Ohio, thence to Illinois and finally to Iowa, where she was married in 1848, to Edwin Perrine, who died September 25, 1861.

To this union, six children were born two dying in infancy, the other four, Albert, John, Ira and Mehala, all of whom, except Albert, who lives in Colorado, have preceded her to the better world.

One brother and four grand children survive her.

In August 1863 she was married to Lewis Swearingen, who departed this life February 16, 1898. In 1878 she moved to Taylor County and returned to Winfield in 1896 where she resided until her death. In her early years she was converted and united with the Christian church.

The funeral was held at the M. E. Church in this city, Tuesday, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Cadwell. Interment was made in the Spring Run cemetery.

Our acquaintance with this old mother dates back to the close of the civil war and during all these years she has been an earnest and constant worker for the good of family and friends, kind hearted and sympathetic she would do all in her power for those she loved. Full of years and worn out with life's cares she passes to the unseen land where comes that rest and reward she has earned by a life given for the good of others. We shall see her no more on earth, but through faith in the giver of all that is good we can see her in the full enjoyment of well earned happiness.
