Funeral of J. W. Earnst
C. W. Farust and Jacob Schad arrived in Wayland Monday morning with the body of John Earnst who died at his home in Wisconsin last week. It was learned after their arrival at Cayuga, Wisconsin, that Mr. Earnst had been found dead in his home near town and from all appearances had been dead five or six days. The body was in bed and lying in a perfectly natural position, indicating that death came to Mr. Earnst while he slept, probably from heart failure. The body was frozen and in a good state of preservation. The stock on the place were almost famished, the horses which were tied in the barn having eaten the mangers, showing that they had had no attention for several days. Upon arrival here, the body was taken to the Boller Undertaking rooms where it was viewed by many friends of Mr. Earnst. About 9 o'clock, the body was taken to the C. W. Earnst home north of Noble. The funeral was held from the Eicher Church at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. S.M. Musselman. Interment was made in the family lot in the Eicher Cemetery.
