The friends of Miss Helen V. Craven were greatly saddened to learn of the fatal accident befalling her last week in Minneapolis, Minn. caused by a runaway horse plunging into a street car just as she was stepping upon the platform. Miss Jennie, as she was best known here, was a teacher in our high school where she acted as first assistant under B. F. Cozier, principal, which position, she left in 1879. She was widely known as a beautiful and accomplished lady. The funeral ceremony was performed last Monday at the residence of relatives east of the city. The remains being taken to Forest Home Cemetery.
