PIONEER WOMAN DIES AT AGE 95

MRS. PERSIS FISHER PASSES AWAY IN DES MOINES.

Moved There About Two Years Ago and Had Lived in Mt. Pleasant For Forty-Four Years.

The body of the late Mrs. Persis H. Fisher, who died Saturday evening in Des Moines at the home of her niece, Mrs. Ella White, arrived here this afternoon and was taken direct to Forest Home cemetery, where brief services were held and interment made.

Mrs. Fisher was well known here. She went to Des Moines about two years ago to live with her niece, and previous to that time had lived in Mt. Pleasant in the same house, the place now owned by Mr. William Whigham, on North Adams street, for forty-four years. She was born in Vermont in 1816, and was one of Henry county's earliest settlers. Her first husband's name was Joslyn, and later she married Mr. Fisher, who preceded her in death some twenty years. She had two sons by her first marriage, Frank and Edward, both of whom are dead. Mr. Will Hanson, of this city, is a nephew.

Mrs. Fisher, until her later years, was an active and industrious woman, and lived a useful and well spent life. Death was due to old age, and a general decline in health extending over a long period of years.
