Mrs. Dale (Mayme) Diers, 74, resident of Parkview, passed away at 6:40 P.M. Saturday, June 29, 1985 at Burlington Medical Center, Burlington, Iowa, where she had been a patient since June 11.
Born at Wayland, November 8, 1910, the daughter of Christian and Ida Wyse Roth, she was married on March 12, 1941 at Wayland to Dale Albert Diers who preceded her in death on February 8, 1984. She was a lifetime resident of the Wayland and Brighton communities and was a charter member of the Bethel Mennonite Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Ada Leichty, Wayland; Beulah Barron, Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; Velma Smith, North Manchester, Indiana; a stebrother, Dallas Miller of Olds; three nephews, Glen Leichty, rural Wayland; Mahlon Leichty, Kalona; E. Timothy Smith, Macon Georgia. Her parents and her husband preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held from the Bethel Mennonite Church Tuesday, July 2, 1985 with Rev. Ken Steckly and Rev. Oliver Yutzy officiants. Music was by a quartet, Marilyn Hershberger, Miriam Yutzy, Gene Wyse, and Truman Beckler. Casket bearers were Allen Leichty, Deon Leichty, Garry Leichty, Steve Leichty, Lynn Hochstetler, Keith Yoder.
Interment was in Bethel Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Bethel Church. Arrangements were by Beatty Funeral Home of Wayland where family visitation was held on Monday evening, July 1st.
