BERNARD REX ERICSON, SR.
NOVEMBER 4, 1895 - MARCH 10, 1989Bernard Rex Ericson Sr, age 93, of Lockridge, Iowa died March 10, 1989 of multiple internal and head injuries after being struck after walking into the path of an eastbound Burlington Northern coal freight train in Lockridge, Iowa.
Funeral services were held at the Weir Funeral Home. Burial, with full military honors in White Oak Cemetery, Trenton Twp, Henry County.
He is survived by two sons, Ralph of Lockridge, and H. Edward of Marshalltown; five daughters Mae Ericson Stutzman, Lockridge; Betty Ericson Barr, Mt Pleasant, Grace Ericson Thompson, Salem IA, Evelyn Ericson Wieter, Largo, FL; and Donna Ericson Luzadder of Lockridge, IA
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Lillian Lloyd Ericson; two sons Max and Fred; an infant daughter and Helen; two brothers, Bruce and Guy; and one sister Elsie Ericson Gholson.
Bernard Rex Ericson was born Nov 4, 1895 in Rome, Iowa, the son of Henry F and Lillian Lloyd Ericson. On July 3, 1917 Bernard Rex Ericson married Nellie Elsa Scarff, daughter of Edward L. & Azaba Messer Scarff, at Trenton Township, Iowa
Twelve children were born this marriage, Anna Mae, Unnamed Infant Girl, Henry Edward, Betty Jane, Leona Grace, Max William, Fred Maurice, Bernard Rex Jr, Ralph Thomas, Evelyn Bernice, Helen Lucille and Donna Rose.
Bernard farmed west of Mt. Pleasant and in the White Oak community in Henry Co until retiring and moving to Lockridge. He served in the US Army during World War I.
