Wilbur Brown
Wilbur P. Brown, 80, of New London, died Thursday, May 18, 1995, at the Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.
Born Aug. 29, 1914, in Henry County, he was the son of Thomas and Carey Frances Brown. On July 8, 1935, he married Genevieve Welcher in Davenport.
Mr. Brown attended New London High School. He had been a salesman for Sears Roebuck and had managed the B & D Moto Company of New London. He was also an antique dealer.
He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Mount Pleasant and was a elder in the church.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Janet Boyd of New London; one son, Wilbur F. "Bud" Brown of New London; five granchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Carson of Davenport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, five brothers, two sisters and one great-grandson.
Friends may call after soon Sunday at Elliot Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Brown will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in Elliot Chapel, with the Rev. Rod Cooper officiating. Burial will be in the Burge Cemetery, New London.
A memorial has been established to the New London Rescue Squad.
