Elsie Lucille Farr, 92, of Mount Pleasant, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Pleasant Manor Care Center.Born May 9, 1915, near Wayland, she was the daughter of Arch and Effie Smith Ross. On Aug. 5, 1939, she married Malcolm D. Farr in Davenport.
Mrs. Farr was a homemaker and worked at Hope Haven as a teacher aide for 10 years. She graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1933. She was a member of Salem Methodist Church and attended Open Bible Church in Mount Pleasant. She was a member of Salem Kitchen Band and a Hawkeye basketball fan. She enjoyed flower gardening, playing cards, cooking and bird watching.
Survivors include one son, Jim Farr of Burlington; one daughter, Connie Weatherman of Salem; two sisters, Hope Hoyt and Virginia Boyd, both of Mount Pleasant; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and four brothers.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Farr will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Salem Congregational Church with the Rev. Harold Dorsey officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.
A memorial has been established for Salem Library Building Trust Fund.
