Gertrude Krogmeier
Gertrude Elizabeth Krogmeier, 83, of Mount Pleasant, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, at Arbor Court in Mount Pleasant.Born Feb. 24, 1924, in West Point, she was the daughter of Alois C. and Anna E. Dingman Fraise. On May 5, 1942, she married Jerome G. Krogmeier in St. Paul. He died May 20, 2006.
Mrs. Krogmeier was employed at Sheaffer Pen Co. in Mount Pleasant and worked at the hospital in Fort Madison. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband on the farm. She raised a large garden and canned much of the produce for her family. She received her education in St. Paul.
She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant, the Altar and Rosary Society, Daughters of Isabella and L.B.S. Club. She enjoyed making numerous quilts.
Survivors include six sons, Marvin Krogmeier, Gregory Krogmeier and Louis Krogmeier, all of Mount Pleasant, Melvin Krogmeier of Salem, Orville Krogmeier of West Point and Rodger Krogmeier of Lockridge; one daughter, Monica Klopfenstein of Wayland; 20 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Vic Fraise of Mount Pleasant and Harold Fraise of Danville; and two sisters, Lucille Mayberry of Mount Pleasant and Marilyn Mercer of Burlington.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter and one sister.
Visitation will begin after 2 p.m Friday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. A rosary service will be at 6 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service.
The funeral Mass for Mrs. Krogmeier will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Beckman as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Mount Pleasant.
Memorials have been established for St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and Hospice of Central Iowa.
