J.O. Hall succumbs at hospital
J.O. Hall, 85, of Winfield died at 2:30 A.M. Friday August 30, 1963 at the Memorial Hospital, Mt. Pleasant.
Jacob Osborn Hall son of John Asbury and Emma Jane (Brewer) Hall, was born March 1, 1878 near Columbus Junction.
He grew to manhood in the Spring Run Community. On December 27,1899 he was married to Nannie C. Greene who died October 30, 1949. As a young man he was converted and joined the Spring Run Church, and was active in work of the church and served for a time as class leader and also Sunday School superintedent. For a number of years he was a member of the Methodist Church and did evangelistic work, but at the time of his death his membership was again in the Spring Run EUB Church.
Mr. Hall is survived by two brothers Floyd of Columbus Junction and L.B. Hall of Winfield and one sister, Mrs. Henry Ostermeier of Winfield.
His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 1, at 2 P.M. at the Spring Run Church with Rev. Herbert Dymale pastor of the Spring Run EUB Church officiating.
Mrs. Gerald Buffington was pianist and Feryl Gipple was soloist. Bearers were Harold T. Hall, Wendell Hall, Gary Hall, John Pierson, Junior Graber and Lee Honts.
Barton McKasson Funeral Home of Winfield was in charge of arangements. Burial was in Columbus City Cemetery.
