Rites today for Henry Ostermeier
Henry Roy Ostermeier of Winfield passed away at 6:30 P.M. Monday August 19, 1968 at the Henry County Memorial Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, where he had been a patient for the past 15 days. He was 68 years, 5 months and 6 days of age at the time.
The son of Fred and Mary (Finke) Ostermeier, he was born in the Marsh Vicinity.
His entire life was spent in the Marsh and Winfield vicinities where he farmed and for 18 years was employed by the Farmers Coop Elevator in Winfield.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
On March 23, 1921 he was married to Ora Krieger of Mt. Union. She passed away September 29,1935.
On November 24, 1937 he was married to Muriel Hall Gruver.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gerald of Grand Mound and Donald of Muscatine; one daughter, Mrs. Merle (Wanda) Linder of Winfield; three step daughters, Mrs. Virginia Honts and Mrs. Betty Swan, both of Burlington, and Mrs. Bonnie Pierson of Fairfield; 12 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Charles (Mildred ) Spangler of Winfield; and one brother Will Ostermeier of Hillsboro.
He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at the United Methodist Church at Winfield at 2 P.M., Thursday August 22, with Rev. Charles Sommers officiating; Mrs. Elvira Helphrey organist and Mrs. Wendell Housman solosist.
Bearers will be Ivan Lee, Ronald Davis, Robert Briggs, Dean Johnston, Charles Messer, Phillip Marshall.
Interment will be in Trinity Cemetery, Henry County, Iowa.
Barton McKasson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
