Dorothy Frances Scott, 70, of 2200 Seneca Drive, Burlington, died of lung cancer at 9:48 p.m. on Monday, April 14, at her home.

She was born June 26, 1932, in Galesburg, Ill., the daughter of Gerald L. and Hazel M. Reed Schroeder. On April 14, 1956, she married Edward L. Scott at First Christian Church in Dallas City, Ill.

She was a 1951 graduate of Dallas City Community High School.

She served her country during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1953.

She was of the Christian faith.

She was employed at Sheaffer Pen Co. in Fort Madison and worked at IRC/TRW in Burlington. She also was employed as a clerk at Stoermer's, where she was a craft designer.

She taught adult cake decorating classes at Burlington High School and Southeastern Community College, at Stoermer's and at Scotty's Dairy Bar. She was co-founder and co-operator of Scotty's Dairy Bar from 1980 to 1990.

Her hobbies included cooking and baking, crafts, porcelain doll collecting, reading Danielle Steele books, the casino boat and bingo.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Beverly Parker of Mount Pleasant and Annette (Art) Roberts of Burlington; two sons, Jeffrey L. Scott of Burlington and Timothy (Deana) Scott of Burlington; one sister, Altaretta (Dale) Rossell of Galesburg, Ill.; four brothers, Gerald (Faye) Schroeder of Burlington, Gary (Dixie) Schroeder of Fort Madison, Larry (Sue) Schroeder of Paxton, Ill., and Harland (Connie) Schroeder of Indianapolis, Ind.; three grandsons; eight granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Geraldine Butler of Phoenix, Ariz., one brother, John Schroeder of Dallas City, and one son-in-law, Carl Parker of Hillsboro.

No family visitation is scheduled and no funeral is planned. The body of Dorothy Scott has been cremated by the Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa. An inurnment will be held at a later date at Harris Cemetery, Dallas City, Ill.

All friends, neighbors and family are invited to a celebration of her life from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 232 Columbus Drive, with prayers by Pastor Dean Graber at approximately 2 p.m.

It was Dorothy's desire that in lieu of flowers contributions be sent to a memorial fund established for Great River Hospice, 1221 S. Gear Ave., West Burlington, 52655.
