Floyd Gruver passed away at M.P. Hospital
Floyd Walter Gruver, 82 of Winfield, Iowa passed away at the Henry County Menorial Hospital at Mt. Pleasant, Sunday morning, November 30, 1969. He had been a patient at the hospital since November 8.
The son of Irvin and Estella (Adams) Gruver, he was born April 15,1887 at Hayes County, Nebraska.
His parents moved from Nebraska when he was seven years old and he attended grade school for a while at Newport prior to moving to Winfield where he completed grade school and attended high school.
After graduation from high school he taught for a few years and later farmed in Henry and Louisa counties. On December 4, 1912 he was married to Ethrel Metzger at Wapello, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Verl of Muscatine; one foster son, LeRoy Quinlin of Winfield; five grandchildren, Suzanne K. Leib of Erie Pennsylvania, Mary K. Ziegenhorn of Tampa, Florida, Gary T. Quinlin, Joyce M. Quinlin and Lisa A. Quinlin all of Winfield; two great granddaughters, Mary Elizabeth Leib and Julie Ann Leib of Erie, Pennsylvania; three sisters, Winifred Kramer of Winfield, Lorraine Geary of Mt. Mt. Union and Crystal Davis of Moline, Illinois and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, one brother and three sisters. Funeral services were conducted at the Barton-McKasson Funeral Home, Winfield, Iowa, at 2 P.M., Tuesday, December 2, 1969 with Rev. Charles Sommers, pastor of the Winfield United Methodist Church officiating. Mrs. Keith Crawford was organist and Robert W. Johnson solist. Bearers, Jeff Jennings, Wayne Clark. Wallace Geary, Tod Davis.
