Carl L. Schenk, 89, of Winfield, died Saturday, March 13, 2004, at Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.

Born May 25, 1914, near Mount Union, he was the son of Will and Elizabeth Gilyert Schenk. On Aug. 11, 1934, he married Francys Helphrey. She died Aug. 26, 1981. On Sept. 12, 1982, he married Audrey Robinson. She died Aug. 17, 1987.

Mr. Schenk was a farmer. He attended the Methodist and Open Bible churches. He enjoyed feeding cattle and was an avid sports fan.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Jane Robertson of Mediapolis; one son, Darrell Schenk of Burlington; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and one sister, Myrtle Hazen of Mount Pleasant.

Besides his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Honts Funeral Home in Winfield, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Schenk will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Honts Funeral Home. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery, Mount Union.

Memorials have been established for Sunrise Terrace Care Center and Winfield First Responders.
